Procedure Text | Definition | Structure | Example


Yo, Gengs! I'm back with new material on procedure text. It's not so hard and not so easy. So read the lesson until you understand!

Definiton
A procedural text is any piece of writing that gives step-by-step instructions on how to do or make something. Fun fact, procedural texts belong in the non-fiction section of the library, as they are used in everyday life. Procedure text has a purpose is to give directions on how to do or make something. Structure

1.      Title/Goal: This tells you what this procedure is about

·         For example: How to use chopsticks correctly

2.      Materials: What items or ingredients you need to achieve this goal

·         For example: chopsticks, food

3.      Steps: What do you need to do step by step in order to achieve this goal


Language Features

1.      Use adverbial of sequence / Using temporal conjunction (e.g. : first, second, third, the last)

2.      Use command / imperative sentence (e.g. : put the noodles on the …., cut the onion …, wash the tomatoes ….,)

3.      Using adverbials (Adverbs) to express detail the time, place, manner accurate, for example, for five minutes, 2 hours, etc.

4.      Using action verbs, e.g. : make, take, boil, cook

5.      Simple Present Tense

Here's my procedure text about how to make chocolate milkshake

How to Make Chocolate Milkshake

Ingredients:

1.      cups vanilla ice cream

2.      2 ½ cup milk (adjust for desired thickness)

3.      3 tbsp (tablespoons chocolate syrup (adjust to taste)

4.      Whipped cream (optional)

5.      Chocolate shavings or sprinkles (optional)

Steps:

1.      Gather ingredients: Make sure your ice cream is properly chilled. You can also chill he glasses you’ll be using for serving.

2.      Blend: In a blender, combine the vanilla ice cream, and chocolate syrup. You can adjust the amount of chocolate syrup based on how chocolaty you want your milkshake to be.

3.      Blend until smooth: Start blending the ingredients on low speed and gradually increase to high. Blend until the mixture is smooth and creamy, without any large ice cream chunks.

4.      Check consistency: If the milkshake is too thick for your liking, you can add a little more milk and blend again until it reaches your desires consistency. If it’s too thin, you can add a bit more ice cream and blend again.

5.      Taste and adjust: Taste the milkshake and adjust the sweetness and chocolate flavor by adding more chocolate syrup if needed. Blend briefly to combine.

6.      Serve: Pour the chocolate milkshake into chilled glasses. If desired, you can stop the milkshake with whipped cream and chocolate shavings or sprinkles for an extra touch of indulgence.

7.      Enjoy your milkshake.
